Why formally join the Progress Association?
The Association is a registered Community Service organization and as such endeavours to work for the benefit of all mountain residents. Regular feedback over the years has indicated that an estimated over ninety per cent of the population has arrived to enjoy Tamborine Mountain’s unique lifestyle. Broadly put, this is a relaxed, environment friendly, semi-rural and close-knit community and residents like to keep it that way. As a limited area small plateau with no reticulated water or sewerage, any growth explosion should not be difficult to contain. With limited “working hands” in the Association, most energy in the past two decades has been directed towards planning problems as these underpin the mountain’s character, and indeed the quality of various other organizations on the mountain. With long experience of court cases, successive town plans and dealing with perceived threats to the mountain character, executive and central active members have been able to quickly provide residents with formal information with which to support any objections they may have to perceived threats to their lifestyles. Cashed up developers seeking to breach local area plans pay experts to come up with formal information supporting their objectives (mainly capital gain). TMPA has been providing residents with information, free of charge, needed to support their views. Forums on various topics such as changes to relevant State Government Acts, legal positions, etc. provided by lawyers of the Environmental Defenders’ Office have been attended by executive members over many years. TMPA provides a conduit maintaining well developed communications between Government departments and residents. The objectives of the Association are preserving, enhancing and promoting the quality of living and the environment on Tamborine Mountain. Your membership is valuable because……….. It adds weight to Association activities Funds go towards paying experts & also court costs Auditor and registration fees Download the membership form.... |
